Combo Brows in Geneva: microblading meets ombré shading

Torn between the delicate look of microblading and the staying power of an ombré powder brow? Combo Brows give you both. At our permanent make-up studio in Geneva, this technique has become the go-to choice for anyone who wants a brow that reads natural, looks defined and lasts. It is our premium option, the one that delivers the most dimension and the best longevity.

What are Combo Brows?

Combo Brows blend two permanent make-up techniques into a single, seamless brow. At the front of the brow (the head, closest to the nose) we hand-draw individual hair-strokes with microblading: fine pigmented lines that mimic natural hair growth and keep an airy, realistic, feathered look. Through the body and tail of the brow we switch to ombré shading: a fine mist of pigment dots that builds soft, graduated density, much like a beautifully blended brow powder.
The result is a brow that starts light and hair-like, then deepens gently toward the tail. This "hairs into powder" transition is exactly what makes the combo so believable: the eye first reads real strokes, then a soft shadow, with no flat block of colour and no harsh outline.

Combo vs microblading vs ombré: when combo wins

Each technique has its strengths, and the right one depends on your skin and your goals.
  • Microblading alone: best on normal to dry skin for an ultra-natural, stroke-by-stroke result. Its limit: on combination to oily skin or enlarged pores, strokes can blur and fade faster over time.
  • Ombré / powder alone: ideal for a soft "make-up" finish, a clean gradient and excellent retention on almost every skin type. It gives density but not the illusion of individual hairs at the front.
  • Combo Brows: the best of both worlds. Crisp hairs where the eye notices them most (the front), plus the density and durability of powder where the brow needs structure (body and tail).
Combo wins when you want natural AND defined at the same time, when your brows are sparse or uneven, or when you are after the longest possible wear without giving up a realistic look. It is also the technique we often recommend for clients who simply never want to fill in their brows again.

The treatment step by step

Everything begins with a consultation (available on its own at CHF 40, or built into your appointment). We assess your face shape, your skin type, and your natural hair and skin tone to select the most flattering pigment shade.
Next comes the brow mapping: using measurements and a pencil, we draw the ideal shape and confirm it together in the mirror before any pigment is applied. Nothing is tattooed until you approve the shape.
After a soothing cream is applied, we first create the microblading hair-strokes at the front, then the ombré shading across the rest of the brow. The session usually takes two to three hours. A touch-up at 4-6 weeks (CHF 230) is essential: it sets the result, adjusts the intensity and fills any areas that held less pigment during healing.

The healing timeline

  • Days 1-3: brows look darker and sharper than the final result. This is normal.
  • Days 4-10: light flaking may appear; never pick or scratch. The colour softens.
  • Days 10-14: the pigment can look very faint, even as if it has "vanished" in places. This is the deceptive stage of healing.
  • Weeks 3-5: the true colour resurfaces and stabilises. This is when the final look can be judged, just before the touch-up.

The benefits of Combo Brows

  • A dimensional brow: depth at the front, density toward the tail.
  • The most realistic finish among long-lasting techniques.
  • Excellent durability, better than microblading on its own.
  • Time saved every morning: no pencil, no powder.
  • A symmetrical shape tailored to your features.

Who are they for?

Combo Brows are ideal for anyone who wants a natural yet defined result, for clients whose brows are sparse, asymmetrical or faded, and for those chasing the best possible wear. They suit normal and combination skin alike, with the powdered section compensating where microblading alone would hold less. During the consultation, we confirm together that the technique suits your skin.

Durability and touch-ups

A well-executed, well-maintained combo offers some of the best longevity in permanent make-up. Wear depends on your skin type, sun exposure and skincare routine. An annual touch-up (around CHF 300, typically between 12 and 18 months) refreshes the colour and keeps the shape crisp. In the meantime, the first touch-up at 4-6 weeks remains a must for a polished, finished result.

Aftercare

While healing, keep the area clean and apply the recommended balm in a thin layer. Avoid direct water, intense exercise and heavy sweating for the first few days, along with saunas, pools and steam rooms. Never pick the flakes. Once healed, protect your brows from the sun with SPF: it is the single best ally for the longevity of your pigment.

Why choose our Geneva PMU studio

In Geneva, our studio specialises exclusively in permanent make-up for brows. That focus is what makes the difference: mastery of mapping, of shades matched to every complexion, and of combining microblading and ombré across varied skin types. Clients travel from across the Geneva area, from the city centre to neighbouring communes, for personalised care from the very first sketch to the touch-up. Rigorous hygiene, quality pigments and attentive aftercare are part of our commitment.
Do Combo Brows hurt? A soothing cream is applied for your comfort. Most clients describe it as very manageable, closer to mild discomfort than pain.
How long do Combo Brows last? Their wear is among the best in permanent make-up. An annual touch-up (12-18 months) refreshes the colour and shape.
Is the 4-6 week touch-up mandatory? It is strongly recommended: it sets the result and corrects any under-pigmented areas. It is priced at CHF 230.
Can I choose the shape and intensity? Yes. The shape is drawn and approved with you in the mirror before any pigment is applied, and the intensity is adapted to your wishes.
Are combos suitable for oily skin? Often, yes: the shaded section tends to hold better than microblading alone on this skin type. We confirm this at the consultation.
How long is the session? Allow around two to three hours, including the brow mapping.
When will I see the final result? After full healing, around 4 to 5 weeks, just before the touch-up.
Do I need a consultation first? It is highly recommended. Offered at CHF 40 on its own, it lets us confirm the shade, the shape and how well the technique suits your skin.
